Illinois Drag Racer Gets the Call of a Lifetime From Qatari Sheik

It sounds like something out of the movies. Illinois drag racer Alex Hossler, who runs a totally bad ass Camaro Pro Mod, was called by Qatari Sheik Khalid bin Hamad al-Thani who asked Alex to run in the Arabian Drag Racing League races this season. The sheik will be paying to ship his car over, covering his travel costs to and from, and even covering parts breakage. Talk about a drag racing dream come true!

Hossler was an ADRL event winner in 2009, so we’re guessing that’s what caused the Sheik to call. We’re also interested to see if other event winners have gotten the same offer.

The Sheik has stated that he wants to grow drag racing internationally, and how better to do it than to bring all the strongest racers together for a truly international series. What we’re dreaming about seeing is an all-out, throw down, international door slammer showdown. Pit North American, European, Middle Eastern, and Australian door-slammers (running on their “home country” rule setups) against each other. Sheik, are you listening? We think it would be one of the biggest drag race events in thie history of the sport.
