You know how all those in-race features, introductions, and interviews during races looks really great? That’s usually because some poor editor has to cut up about 13 hours of footage to find 90 usable seconds for the video spot. Most of that footage never gets seen, but thankfully, IndyCar has preserved about three minutes of the best bloopers from this season’s videos. While it would be great to know the context of everything, a lot of it is probably funnier without having any context whatsoever.
The ages-old question about race car seat-pissing is answered, as is the phone when commentator Townsend Bell calls Ed Carpenter from the booth during a pit interview. Add in some sponsor plugs where the drivers can’t remember or don’t know what they’re supposed to say for flavor and you’ve got a high-quality blooper reel. Its not as nuts as a three-wide finish, but it’s still pretty dang entertaining.
