Jersey Guy Sells Jeep on Craigslist; Gets Screwed

Like most of you, we practically live on Craigslist. We’re buying and selling stuff left and right, but we adhere to one golden rule. That rule? Cash is king. A guy from New Jersey who recently “sold” his 2008 Jeep on Craigslist found out why that rule needs to be the basis of every Craigslist sales transaction.

According to a story on NJ.com, an unnamed 25 year-old took a check for nearly $40,000 for his Jeep and suprise(!) the check turned out to be fake. Honestly, we feel bad for the guy and hope that the jerks that scammed him are caught. This totally reinforces our personal no check policy when dealing with stuff on the internet. If people have the stones to rip you off for almost $40,000, imagine how easily that they’ll jack you out of a couple hundred bucks.
