Here’s a neat clip that has been making a hot lap around the internet over the last couple days. It features a crazed one mile long drag racing event, held in Russia. The event has been going on for some time, a few years, if not more and seems to draw mainly high end exotic stuff. Safety equipment and rules are at a minimum and it is all heads up. This clip rules because it shows a blown Z06 Corvette burying a car that costs nearly ten times as much, with relative ease.
The loser in this pair is the Koenigsegg CCXR, a boutique, hand built super car from Sweden. The car is universally loved by video game players and exotic car fan boys the world over. You know, the guys who thoroughly enjoy crapping all over the Corvette, which is the lunch pail guy of the super car workforce. Chevrolet, what’s sexy and cool about that? What could an American car with what one popular British car show called “buggy suspension” a few years ago, and pushrods have for something as amazing as the million dollar wonder from Sweden. Long story short, it had plenty.
The blown (and we’re guessing ProCharger or Vortech blower) LS motor was supposedly in the 700hp range while the four valve, custom, twin turbo mill in the Koenigsegg is rated at more than 1,000.
You’ll see it in the video, but the lowly ‘Vette puts a whooping on the million dollar baby and crosses the traps at more than 198mph.
Yeah, but was it properly ‘caged? 🙂
Notice the ‘Vette was the 5th overall seed in the bracket! The Koenigsegg was 28th – ouch!
