Killer Car: A Road Race Spec 1955 Chevy

Killer Car: A Road Race Spec 1955 Chevy

We’ve seen old school stock car 1955 Chevys. We’ve seen drag race 1955 Chevys. What we have not seen is a full-on, tube chassis, modern spec road race 1955 Chevy, that is until now. We got tipped off to this car by Joe Grippo. As you will see when you hit the link the car was recently sold by the owner. He had invested a lot of time and dough into the build, so we’re guessing that the sale was for a pretty hefty amount.

The owner of the car built it at his home shop. Starting with a custom made tube chassis built by Wisbech Engineering in England, the car is intended to be lighter, stiffer, and more capable on a road course than the GT40 replica the seller previously built. The seller then added a standard roll cage kit designed for a 1955 Chevy. He then custom build a couple gas tanks, added the steering and dropped a ‘glass 1955 Chevy body on top of the whole works.

The suspension is all 100% custom. It is fully adjustable and was all custom built by the same English company that constructed the chassis. Interestingly, after a couple track days (which seem like they were successful because he brags about blowing off a Ferrari) he decided to pull the car apart and upgrade stuff like the roll cage, etc. He apparently sold it in the state you see in the photos.

Hit the link below to learn more. We wonder who bought it and where it is now?

Nice, looks like it was a great build, me I would have had door bars at least, With all the time and money spent I wonder why he went with Mopar cop car wheels and centers with a 4 1/2 b.c. I like it still.
