Killer Nose Art and History From Velasco Enterprises

Killer Nose Art and History From Velasco Enterprises

We pride ourselves on being not just car geeks, but also American history geeks. We have a special admiration for the men and women of the so called “Greatest Generation” who fought so hard both here and abroad during World War II. A neat part of that fighting history involved the machinery that was used during the war, namely planes, and how their crews decorated them with nose art. We found a place that is not only selling reproduction nose art on real panels, but actually gives the stories of the planes that the art appeared on! Too cool.

There has been some record of this type of art showing up on the noses of cars these days. It’s not really in the ballpark of a trend, but when done correctly, it does add a cool and unique touch to a car. The work done on planes was obviously on a much larger scale and reflected the devil-may-care attitude that many flight crews took with them on their dangerous missions. Irreverant sayings, scandily clad women, and taunts to the enemy were all fair game.

Hit the link below to check out what Velasco has for sale. Even if you are not buying, it is great for a history lesson as the company provides detailed information on the battle history of each plane featured. Some of these guys lived through some serious stuff up in the air.

Thanks to Jeremy George for the tip!
