Kyle Busch Loses License for 45-Days: Lawyer Mounts Nauseating Defense

Kyle Busch Loses License for 45-Days: Lawyer Mounts Nauseating Defense

Remember Kyle Busch’s 128mph blast down public roads behind the wheel of Toyota’s new LF-A sports car? The court system in North Carolina sure did and a judge handed down a sentence of 45 days with no driving, a 30-day suspended jail sentence, one year probation, and a $1,000 fine. Despite his lawyer’s best Atticus Finch impression, Busch was not let off easy.

When normal people go into court to fight a ticket or at least try to get the penalty knocked down, they throw on some decent clothes, mentally prepare their defense, have about five minutes with a judge or magistrate and let the chips fall where they may. Busch’s attorney, Cliff Homesley gave a 30 minute speech citing recent cases where people with similar offenses didn’t lose their driving privelages. Apparently the judge was not swayed by Homesley’s pleads because he revoked Busch’s driving priveledges with impunity.

There was even the obligatory court house steps press conference with mind bending statements like, “We never acknowledged reckless driving on Kyle’s’ part, and we don’t think he was being reckless. He certainly was speeding, and he’s accepted responsibility for that.” Hey, we don’t think he was being wreckless driving 128mph in a 45mph zone. Nope, we think he was being bat shit crazy.

Then there was this gem which made a single tear drip down our cheek with the thought of how the multi-millionaire driver would make it around for the next 45 days, “This is a champion race car driver. He won’t be able to drive for 45 days. That’s a tough penalty for him to walk out of there with. But we accept it. He accepts it. He respects the court.”

Perhaps we should start a “Free Kyle Busch’s License” fund. The man clearly needs our help.

You think the Nascar points leader will get nailed by Nascar for his stupidity? Others have for lessen offenses. I dont think so.
