Large Woody Collection to be Auctioned on August 13th; That Came Out Wrong

Oh get your heads out of the gutter. We’re talking cars people! One of the nation’s best and largest collection of “Woodies” will be sold by RM Auctions on August 13th, 2009 at the Pebble Beach Concours. Owned by big deal So-Cal BMW dealer Nick Alexander, the cars range from the beginning of the woodie era until the end in the mid to late 1940’s.

Outside of the interview being done by someone who has no idea what a flathead motor is, it’s a decent read. We would to have liked a little more meat on what was exactly in the collection, but from the sounds of it all the makes are represented. There’s a quick note in there saying that he has a preference for Fords, we read into that statement that GM and Chrysler also have examples that will be on the block.

Then there’s the big question. Why is he selling now, with the market in a slump? We’re guessing that it ain’t cheap to operate a BMW dealership, especially when no one is buying BMWs.

Here’s the link to the story. (Thanks to Monk for the tip!)
