Old kiddie cars are cool. Today most vehicles for small children are of plastic construction and move around on power supplied from batteries. That was not the case back in the day, as cars were either pedaled or powered by real gasoline burning engines. We found an awesome gallery of photos from the LIFE Magazine archives that highlight some of the neater kiddie cars ever made.
We were blown away by some of the details and the quality/complication of their styling and construction. Where squarish plastic pieces fit today, hand formed steel was in place before. Just building the cars of the past must have required nearly as many people as a normal full size car factory did.
There are about thirty photos in the gallery and we’ve yet to pick a favorite. We dig them all.
