Lucas Oil Products, who by our estimation is the single most prolific sponsor of racing and motorsports events in the USA has acquired the naming rights to the facility formerly known as Indianapolis Raceway Park. Now called Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis, the facility will continue to host all manner of drag races, road races and stock car events on the various courses held within the confines of the facility.
Lucas already has a massive presence in their home state of Indiana. They have the naming rights to the Indianapolis Colts stadium, the family recently purchased a historic area estate, and now they’ve put another big feather in their cap with the announcement about Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.
The track has a long and storied history as the home to the most significant professional drag race in the world, the Mac Tools US Nationals. There has been lots of triumph and tragedy over the years on that strip of asphalt. It is good to know that the new name on the sign represents high quality products and is so deeply involved in the world of auto racing and motorsports across the country.
Just how committed is Lucas Oil to NHRA Drag Racing? Well, they sponsor the entire NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Racing Series, they are the sponsor of the Lucas Oil Nationals at Brainerd, they are the presenting sponsor of the US Nationals, they are the lead sponsor on several top level professional teams like Morgan Lucas and Shawn Langdon in Top Fuel, Larry Morgan’s Pro Stock team, and Hector Arana’s Pro Stock Bike team, and then there are the numerous sportsman level sponsorships…and that’s just drag racing!
