Major Wreckage Video: A Wheelstanding Mustang Barrel Rolls Down Mobile Dragway

Having just spent a nice Saturday announcing a drag race, I can appreciate a door slammer that yanks the wheels in the majestic fashion that this Mustang does. After all, what gearhead worth his Johnson rods doesn’t like seeing a car “climb the ring gear”. There is certainly an associated risk with the practice as this video from Mobile Dragway illustrates.

The car in question leaves and really skies the front end. The problem is that while the driver is looking at the constellations, the car is headed left, and he’s already in the left lane. After striking the wall and (we assume) wrecking any steering ability the driver had, the car goes into one of the most violent barrel roll sequences we have seen on the front half of a strip. Normally these types of antics, especially this level of violence is saved for the top end (Think the famous Bob Glidden wreck at Atlanta).

Press play below and count the rolls, seriously, count ’em. You’ll be impressed, especially when you know that the driver walked away with minor bumps, cuts, and bruises.

  1. Mobile sucks

Probably wouldn’t have been so bad at a normal track. Mobile’s track is narrow as well as pretty short.
