Mecum Auctioning Off Pieces of Reggie Jackson’s Car Collection Next Weekend, Jaw Dropping Stuff

The Mecum at Monterey auction, to be held August 13-14 at the Hyatt Regency Monterey, California, will feature 15 cars from the private collection of Reggie “Mr. October” Jackson, who is apparently thinning the herd and selling off an incredible lot of cars. From Max Wedge mills to 409 powered Chevys, there’s lots of totally bitchin’ stuff.

We’re avowed Yankee haters here in our Boston-area eastern offices, but even we must bow to one of the most clutch players in the history of baseball. The fact that the man is a gearhead doesn’t hurt his case at all either. Jackson was a hot rodder from high school on and as his personal wealth increased he was able to amass more and more significant cars.

You need to hit the link below to see all the stuff, but there’s a real 1963 Plymouth Stage III Max Wedge car, a 1962 Impala SS with a 409hp 409ci motor, a real 1969 ZL1 Camaro, and a whole ton more. We had no idea that Jackson owned Dust Ya, the 1971 Duster that came from Steve Strope’s shop and that’s a personal favorite of ours.

In our opinion, the ultimate car in the group is a Roy Brizio built 1941 Willys that wears an all-steel body and is shoved along by a blown 426ci Hemi. It is the car shown in the small inset photo above and really looks like one of the nicest examples of a gasser style Willys in existence today.

Hit the link to see all the stuff…and there’s lots of stuff to see!
