On a Monday conference call, Dover Motorsports, the parent company that owns the freshly defunct Memphis Motorsports Park, shared the financial information for the facility and the picture was not pretty. With the loss of the NHRA event and two NASCAR races (a Nationwide series race and a truck race) the value of the facility has dropped by nearly 80%.
Year over year finanical performance for the company overall is suffering in a big way. At this point in 2009 the company showed more than six million bucks in profits compared to a 1.3 million dollar loss this year. The company had valued the Memphis property at a shade over 10 million dollars and now values it at 2.5 million.
