A while back we blogged about the story of Mike Charlton, the construction worker from Ohio who, in his free time, drives a jet-powered semi truck and a blown V8 motorcycle at dragstrips across America. We briefly mentioned his home-crafted “jet bike” project that he plans to run at Bonneville this year.

Now, a story at Motorcycle-USA.com seems to indicate that it’s completed, or very close to being completed.

It seems that Mike has hit some hurdles and challenges with respect to the rules and how the machine will be classified or if it will be allowed to run at all. We’re sure hoping that it does.

This project has all the right elements, especially the homebuilt part. It also has an awesome connection to the Arfons family that we won’t give away to make you read the story.

We hope this pans out for Mike. We’ve actually seen him ride the V8 bike and if he can lasso that monster, we think he can handle this one.
