Milestone: We Published Our 6,000th Blog Item This Morning – Who’d a Thunk?!

BangShift passed kind of a neat milestone this morning. It came quietly enough and like when the odometer of your car rolls past 100,000 miles no balloons fell from the ceiling, no indoor pyrotechnics went off, and there was no one there with a big sign of congratulations. Despite those things, this is a big deal to Chad and I. From the smallest of beginnings back in 2008, we have grown to stand with some of the largest, most widely read enthusiast sites/publications out there. It means a whole lot to us that you hang out here, be it once a week, five times a day, or once a month.

Through the last 6,000 blog entries, we’ve taken you racing, made you laugh, perhaps jerked a tear or two, had you cheering and cursing us, maybe introduced you to something cool you had no idea about, covered motorsports and topics most “traditional” sources don’t care about, shone the light onto unique and amazing cars, wrenched with you, showcased photos and video from an amazing array of super talented photographers, had guest entries from the likes of Tony DeFeo, Cole Coonce, Bret Kepner, and more. We’ve taken you to trade shows, junkyards, into our own homes, and to some of the neatest automotive events in the country, and even around the world.

There are days we have shined and days we have sucked out loud. I like to think that we have learned from all of them. Chad and I need to extend a special thanks to our talented band of photo and blog contributors that span from coast to coast. In Massachusetts, Dave Nutting has been a great addition to our band of henchmen. In Pennsylvania we have Joe Grippo and Doug Garrison. Those guys mispronounce the word “radiator” but it is genetic, so they get a pass. Deep in the heart of Texas Charles Wickam rules the scene from the mud drags to the ADRL. Our mavens of the Midwest, Bob Chiluk and Greg Rourke shoot car shows, drag races, pro touring events, and tractor pulls with skill and a great eye that we all can appreciate. Scott Liggett’s deeply embedded in the LA scene and we’ve followed him through road trips, killer tech stories, and warm nights at the famous So-Cal cruise night at Bob’s Big Boy. Dom has contributed some fantastic small tire drag race coverage to us and Mike Galimi, man of all trades that he is has helped with great content over the years as well.

Our dedicated band of tipsters has come to the rescue more times than they’d ever know. Each and every day we get a pile of emails from people suggesting stuff to put on the site. Some of them are totally bat shit crazy, but lots of them are great and we always try to give credit where it is due.

As we continue to move forward, stay tuned for entertaining and fun pieces on our Buford T Justice Caprice project build along with the $200 hauler Suburban that Chad is wrenching on in sunny California. As usual, we’ll keep on cranking out the cool content each and every day, along with providing some of the best live streaming motorsports action on the web.

That’s all for now…we’ve got a pair of rear tires to smoke down to the cords!
