Drunk driving is serious business, and in Minnesota, they treat it as such. Jerry Lee Smith was picked up for his fifth DWI since 1983 while operating his 1939 Ford Coupe. The cops took it and sold it at a car show to cover the cost of the prosecutor’s office and to put video cameras in cruisers.
Does it seem harsh at the first blush? You bet it does, but if this guy had run down a family or killed another guy out cruising his hot rod, the world would have been asking why nothing was done when there was a clear history of trouble.
