Modified GM Futurliner For Sale on eBay: It’s Pimptastic

GM constructed 12 of the giant Futurliners in 1940. In 1953 they were updated to the form that we know them in currently. They were both the transporters and feature attraction of the General Motors Parade of Progress. Ironically, the traveling show would only last for three more years after the 1953 refurbishment. After that, some were sold off and some were donated to collections and museums.

The vehicles launched back into the public spotlight a few years ago at the infamous Barrett-Jackson auction when one sold for $4.3 million dollars. The example we were tipped off to has been modified from it’s original intent into a kind of rolling party bus. The decor is akin to some fine adult entertainment establishments we have never been to, but have been told about.

To us, the original red paint and miles of stainless steel trim can’t be beat with respect to styling, so the paint work on this truck, while interesting, doesn’t turn our crank too hard. This Futurliner was modified by a man named Bob Valdez, who changed it into a motorhome for his personal use. A bunch of stuff we’ve read seems to indicate that Valdez has been trying to sell the truck since 2007 or thereabouts.

So what do you think? Is this modified Futurliner worth the $1.2-million asking price or did Bob Valdez knock the bottom out of his money tree by changing the truck so much?
