We’re not going to say that 1960-1966 Chevy and GMC trucks are unloved, but we will say that they are under-loved when compared to trucks of the previous generation and the following 1967-1972 models. There’s tons of awesome stuff about these trucks and most of it can be found at a treasure trove of a website called The 60-66 GMC Guy.
One of the neater things that we’ve learned lots from this site about are the large-displacement gas and diesel V6 engines that were optional equipment. Gas versions of the “big-block six” ranged from 351 ci all the way up to 478 ci and there was a diesel “Toro-Flow” engine that measured in a 637ci!
We like this site because there’s lots of great history on it and plenty of good info to peruse, even if you don’t own a truck of this vintage. Reading up on the big V12 engines that were available educated us on some motors we didn’t even know existed!
