Mooresville Dragway, a popular and well known North Carolina eighth-mile facility, was temporarily shut down last weekend when the track operators, a husband and wife, were arrested on drug charges. The track has since reopened, but it seems that the legal road for the owners is just starting.
Jody Leazer, his wife, and his son were all arrested on charges of drug possession and intent to sell drugs. The police seized a quantity of marijuana and pills and a semi-automatic pistol. The track is apparently back up and running like usual, but we have to think that these issues may cause problems for the owners down the road. The last thing we need is for another drag strip close, especially due to the bad press of drugs. The Charlotte Observer covered the story with two pieces.
