We went face first back into the BangShift archive, located at our eastern world HQ and came out with a cool sampling of drag race and speed parts ads from 1969 issues of Drag News. It certainly was a happening year to end the tumultuous decade. The California strips were still going full bore with Lions leading the way, Funny Cars were the hot topic around the drag racing world, their popularity rapidly overtaking the dragsters that had served as the sport’s bedrock for ages, and Detroit was cranking out hot cars to feed the grassroots local scene.

The ads are killer but the best stuff in our opinion are the classified type ads with guys like Eddie Schartman selling last year’s flopper because they’ve upgraded equipment for the new season. The prices will make you chuckle and then puke in your mouth a little when you think about what that car would be worth today!
