David Pearson is one of the most respected and fondly remembered drivers in the history of Stock Car racing. That he was not a first ballot inductee into the innagural NASCAR Hall of Fame list announced last week seems to indicate that the HoF is a complete sham. If there is justice in the world he will be in next year, but with his resume we think that he should be in the first class of racing legends headed in.
We’re not the only ones, either. CNet’s Car Tech blog ran an excellent piece with some video of Kyle Petty interviewing Pearson about his career and epic clashed with Kyle’s dad Richard in the 1970s. The man played a big role in the sport, won tons of races, and is nearly universally liked. He’s a living legend north of 70 years old. We really hope he is inducted next year.
