NASCAR Teams Spending $1 Million a Year to Develop Oil

We were tipped off to a story in the Wall Street Journal about the lengths that NASCAR teams are going to develop the oil in their race cars. Joe Gibbs Racing supposedly spends over $1 million a year to develop the formulas of oil used in its engines.

Considering a modern Top Fuel operation is a $4-5 million a year expense, for the whole freaking team, a million a year for oil is crazy nuts. The teams also treat their oil engineers like they are in the witness protection program, not being able to give their real names or other information.

Hit the link and be amazed at just how crazy it has gotten.
