Edelbrock Rereleases the Classic Singshot Intake

Edelbrock Rereleases the Classic Singshot Intake

Admittedly, a large part of this whole hot rodding thing is aesthetic. The way stuff looks can, at certain times, be just as important as the way it runs. We find this to be especially true of old, “correct” hot rods. An old Deuce, or Model A looks far more appropriate with a Flattie in it than a small-block Chevy for example.

Edelbrock’s reintroduction of it’s first ever product, the Slingshot intake manifold for the Ford Flathead V8, is confirmation on the whole looks versus power thing. There are more modern intake designs, more efficient ways of getting air into the motor that will make more power, but none will look better. It’s great to see Edelbrock give this nod to its heritage and to the retro-rod movement, though it will be curious to see if the pure retro guys will embrace this intake with its slightly newer look (due to improved casting) and with the Made in USA tag that makes it obvious that this is not a gennie unit.

Here’s the pitch from Edelbrock:
The Edelbrock Slingshot intake manifold was the first ever product manufactured and sold with the Edelbrock brand logo. Recognized as one of Hot Rod Magazine’s top “Twenty Speed Parts that Changed the World”, the Edelbrock Slingshot intake manifold was the first of many great products to come from Edelbrock. For 2009 Edelbrock is re-releasing this iconic design for 1938-48 Flathead Fords, available under part number (#1103). The Slingshot’s “Y” configured dual carburetor flanges will accept Stromberg®, Holley® and Demon® two barrel carburetors and accommodates the period correct generator mounting.

* Features Include: Re-release of Edelbrock’s first intake manifold
* Two-piece design for use with dual two barrel carbs
* 3-bolt pattern flange with 4.75″ spacing accepts Stromberg, Holley and Demon carbs
* Made in the USA for absolute quality and performance
* Available under part number #1103
