We’ve got friends that are all into their hoverboards. In fact, our friend Richard Holdener has been known to ride his all over Westech Performance Group in the wee hours while working on the dyno, and we’ve personally watched him push engines around the shop while riding it. I have never, ever, had the desire to climb on it. There is something completely foreign to me about having both feet in the normal standing position and trying to climb onto something that wants to ride off with you based on the angle of your feet. No bueno, and just watch the videos of people crashing trying to learn to know what I mean.

The Onewheel, seen here, is totally different. First off it uses a Go Kart wheel and Tire. We approve. Second, it is ridden like a skate or snowboard. We approve. And standing on it while the rear is on the ground is just like standing with the front of your skateboard in the air and one foot holding the back to the ground. Simple. Or so it would seem, I haven’t ridden one.

Here are a couple videos about it, and from what I have seen I’m in love with everything about it. It’s not cheap though. Not by a long shot, and it sucks because I just found out about these things last night which happened to be the last day of a $200 off promotion. Not that $200 off would have been the difference between buying one or not. For me, Onewheel is out of the budget at the moment, but if I had the spare cash and was in the market for a hoverboard or something similar, this would be the one.
