If there is one thing we remember most about our week spent with a Scion FR-S last summer it is the fact that the car was like a scalpel, precise in every aspect of driving. MAHLE Motorsports Introduces Subaru BRZ/Scion FR-S FA20 PowerPak Plus Piston Kit Assembly
Fletcher, NC… July , 2016 – Designed specifically for the extreme loads of today’s high boost direct injected engines, MAHLE Motorsports’ new FA20 PowerPak Plus piston assembly is up to the challenge. The pistons are machined from lightweight MAHLE slipper skirt forgings and feature crown designs specific to the compact FA20 combustion chamber. They are then triple coated; first with a phosphate dry film lubricant to protect the pin bores from galling, followed by an application of MAHLE’s proprietary Grafal® on the piston skirt to reduce wear, and then the top ring grooves are hard anodized to withstand the higher cylinder temperatures and pressures associated with boosted direct injection applications and to also protect against micro-welding.
