When photos began to surface of the ProCharger F4 at the PRI show, people around the web were quick to dismiss the apparent size and scope of the unit as trick photography. In order to completely debunk that line of thought, Chad jammed his considerably sized head into the inlet of one. Rumor has it, the blower is still attached to his head.
Chad hung out with ProCharger’s Jeff Lacina at the MPMC show to get the good dirt on what has to be the largest supercharger of this variety to be used in an automotive capacity (we know about the airplane applications from WWII).
The F-4 will support a 3,200hp engine, can deliver 5,400 CFM, and make a head lifting 45 psi of boost. The blower uses ProCharger’s proprietary transmission design and features an 8-inch inlet and 16-inch volute! The drive system of the blower is important because it allows the blower to be positioned ahead of and above the crankshaft centerline.
We literally cannot wait to see these babies show up on cars at the drag strip. The numbers will be mind-bending and the sweet sounds of atmospheric relocation will fill our ears!
