Roush has announced the creation of three phases of supercharger kits for 4.6L Mustangs. Starting at 475hp and stepping all the way up to 625hp, these kits will really wake up stock ‘Stangs. Interestingly, the blower itself is a new piece. These new compressors replace the previous generation TVS-2300 superchargers that were used on Roush Mustangs.
The theory or hope behind the “phases” is that a guy can buy in at level one and, by the time he’s done, upgrade himself right up the line to the Phase three unit. It is an interesting concept because to this point, once you bolted a blower onto your car, it was there and that was that. Owners of the Phased R2300 superchargers now know that there are other power options availble to them when they are needed.
We loved the Roush-charged 427R Mustang we tested a few years ago and it would rate only at a phase one with this program. That’s saying something because the car totally hauled ass. If that’s the laziest option, you better have your toupee glued on tight before jumping up the phase ladder!
