This blog item is more of a teaser than anything because we’re planning on bringing you the full story of these cool heads from RHS after the show because they are so neat. Basically the engineers at RHS looked at all the power potential of the new LT family of engines that GM is rolling out, specifically the cylinder heads. They they laid them up next to an LS head and the wheels started turning. The end result of the whole thing is a head that utilizes the enhanced flow, valve location, valve size, and port design of the LT heads and packages it in a piece that bolts onto your LS block. We have seen some stuff where companies were building blocks that accepted LS heads and old traditional small block pieces everywhere else but this takes things to a new level completely. Understandably the RHS people are proud of this product and we’re interested in getting the whole story about how they came about and more importantly, how they’ll perform.
The high performance aftermarket world continues to have an unquenchable thirst for LS components as we have seen all show but this one could be the most innovative thing we have run across. Yes, Mercury is here with some four valve LS heads but for the price and complexity element that those will undoubtedly be saddled with, these look even better.Legitimate LT1 technology for your LS engine? What’s better than taking full advantage of the millions and millions of dollars in OEM development that went into the critical elements of that head and applying them to your street machine, right?
RHS understands that they may be ahead of the curve on this one but they plan on “setting the table” with these heads because they believe that in a year or two the rest of the head market will be trying to catch up with this direction.
ENJOY THIS SNEAK PEEK AND STAY TUNED AFTER THE SHOW AS WE’RE GOING TO GET YOU THE BIG STORY ON THESE INNOVATIVE RHS PRO ELITE LT1 HEAD FROM RHS –
Maybe I need another cup of coffee, but,
with airflow numbers already supporting 1,000+ horsepower LS motor builds, what’s the point of putting a one-off LT1 / LS hybrid head on an LS block if you aren’t going to bring the direct injection along with it?
I definitely want to read more about these heads, though. They are damned cool. I don’t think they are for me, but I dig me a franken-engine.
Yeah, I don’t really understand the point either. It seems like a bunch of work for no real gains.
Also what intake would you use for these heads?
..the heads were never designed to have wet intake runners… unless RHS wants to do SIDI conversions which would be amazing..
If i’m not mistaken, it looks like RHS incorporated the injectors into the runners in the head for the LSX retro fit head. That is pretty dang cool
