Sweet New Doorslammer Body From Cynergy Composites

Sweet New Doorslammer Body From Cynergy Composites

While the rest of the drag racing world seems to be folding like a wet blanket, doorslammer racing is hotter than ever. Maybe there’s something to this whole “personality” thing after all.

Ontario, Canada’s Cynergy Composites has established itself over the last few years as one of the premier manufacturers of bodies for Pro Mods and other wild-eyed door cars, and it has introduced another gem.

This killer looking 1970.5 Camaro body is sure to be a big hit and a hot seller. The problem with these neat bodies is that they seem to flood the marketplace quickly after being introduced as racers clamor for the new hot thing.

We’d love to see one of these done in a legit factory paint scheme, sans wild graphics or other weirdness. Make it a flat hooded turbo car and we’d be in love.

You, over there, make it happen!

Here’s the release from Cynergy:

Cynergy Composites Inc – Ontario, Canada is proud to announce the official release of its highly anticipated Brand New ‘70.5 Camaro Body. A purpose built weapon, this completely original “copyrighted” racing shell is a fusion of every single racer and builder request over the past 5 yrs.

Body features include:
• Generous tire clearance for 36” rear slicks.
• Stock Appearing (and Aerodynamic) Tail section for Deck Spoiler or Airfoil (Element) Wing option.
• Unique Main Clip design that allows Builder or Racer to finish car with either:Rockers (Pro Stock Style) “OR” Doors to the ground (Pro Mod Style).
• Proportioned and perfectly located Inner Door Boxes that allow doors to swing “in” properly. (No “off-the-wall” hinges where door must swing “out”)
• 45” Front Overhang and Front Skirt raised 1” up from Rocker.
• Consistent weather-strip recesses in door jams.
• Rear Rocker “Kick-up” to avoid Body rubbing on Starting Line launch.
• Aerodynamic Roof higher than industry average for: Driver Visibility, Taller Engine Combinations and Extra Room for Improved Safety Equipment and Driver Comfort.

Succeeding at marrying “STYLE” and “FUNCTION”, Cynergy Composites paid close attention to every recurring request over the past 5 years in the hopes of creating the most Racer / Builder friendly body in the marketplace to date. Cynergy wants its customers to have options when building their ‘dream car’ and not to be forced to use a certain combination because “…that is all that will fit”. In this day and age a tremendous amount of attention is on: Driver Safety and Comfort, Engine Combinations, Tire Combinations, Wing Combinations and Aerodynamics. Rest assured Cynergy’s new ‘70.5 was designed with all of these characteristics in mind.

Cynergy Composites’ President, Tim Hodgins had a clear vision from the start when he began the overwhelming project September 2007. Tim and good friend (lead hand) Wes Goddard (crew member with Tim on Al Billes’ Funny Car team in the early ‘90’s) cut apart a numbers matching 70.5 Camaro Z28 to begin the painstaking task of hand-forming their completely unique “all – steel” body plug creation. Hodgins’ says “…the steel plug is more work, but the finished product is more precise. The steel gives a stronger base and doesn’t shift or move during the intense molding procedure. Most people wouldn’t believe how we must manipulate this plug to create a perfect set of molds, we appreciate that the plug is a precision piece of equipment.”

With the molding process currently underway, Cynergy is committed to delivering bodies in January ’09 so that its customers can be racing down the track early Spring.
