The engineers went into the transmission worked on the patented valve body to make the unit even stronger, beefing the torque capacity and they even managed to make the 6x shift smoother. One of the major factors in this newest generation of 6x is the fact that the redesigned valve body allows for overrun clutch application in first, third, and fifth gears. With the overrun clutch locking the planetary gearsets in these gears it means strength that has never been available in these units before. Add in the fact that the 6x is electronically controlled so it can be programmed to suit your individual needs and driving style or it can be shifted manually and you have a piece that will completely change your car’s manners and performance. Ashland, MS – The next generation of the 6x Six-Speed™ Transmission from TCI^® features overrun clutch apply to increase the torque capacity of the transmission and the durability of the overdrive roller clutch.

The original TCI^® 6x Six-Speed™ Transmission provided six forward gears and fully programmable automatic or manual shifting for improved acceleration and fuel economy at cruising speeds. Now the engineers at TCI^® have improved on that model and redesigned the patented 6x valve body, resulting in a transmission that boasts higher torque capacity than ever before. This new design provides overrun clutch apply in first, third and fifth gear. The shifting strategy has also been improved and refined, meaning that each second-generation transmission shifts significantly smoother than the original 6x. TCI^® 6x Six-Speed™ Transmissions are capable of handling up to 850 horsepower and are available for all popular GM, Ford and Chrysler applications. A TCI^® EZ-TCU™ Transmission Controller is required. TCI^®-exclusive 4L80E Bolt-Together Torque Converters are also available to complement and further enhance overall performance.
