You’ve undoubtedly noticed that we’ve had a recent addition here at BangShift.com in the sponsor department. Their new ads are bitchin’, and the dog is pretty cool too, but it’s the wheels at Rocket Racing Wheels that really get us excited. The Rocket Booster Hyper Shot happens to be one of the coolest looking wheels available today, and we’re not alone in saying so since it is their number one seller. When Freiburger put a set on his controversial “Flame Wrapped” Impala convertible, nobody questioned the wheel selection, but everyone questioned the wrap. The coolest thing about Rocket is the fact that all of their wheels and finishes scream Hot Rod. Whether they are a set of 15s on a ’55 Ford, or 18s and 20s on a ’70 Camaro, the styling is right. And while that Rocket Booster Hyper Shot is the number one choice of Rocket Customers, Hyper Shot finishes are available across the Rocket Racing Wheel Lineup.
Have you not heard of Hyper Shot? Well you are in for a treat. With a two-stage finish that consists of just the right mix of black and silver, the Hyper Shot reflects light like a polished wheel but without the maintenance, and with a bit more style. With price, quality, and weight, Rocket Racing Wheels are the whole package, which is why we are so happy to have them on board here at BangShift.com. We’ll be showing you all the cool offerings from Rocket this year as we put out Wheel and Tire Guides, build several projects, and more. Stay tuned!

To find out more of Rocket’s History, and how they came to be one of today’s premier wheel builders, check out the bio below.
The Launch – In August 2008, Rocket Performance Machine, Inc. (RPM) launched its Rocket Racing Wheels brand, reminiscent of the 1960s and Detroit automotive performance. These new high-performance affordable alloy five-spoke wheels perfectly fuse together traditional hot rod styling with modern sizes and finishes.
The Rocket Fuel and Rocket Booster are the Rocket Racing Wheels flagship wheel styles. Both wheels offer up traditional style peaked five-spoke designs, modern engineering and a surprisingly affordable price tag. While many wheel companies offer a “one-size fits some” approach to their wheel line, the RPM concept is simple and has been very well received in the marketplace. RPM’s extensive research on what car builders and enthusiast have been custom/special ordering was key to the wheel design. As each Rocket Racing Wheel comes to market, the enthusiasts and car builders will have the ability to pick a perfectly sized and styled set of wheels without breaking the bank or waiting weeks or months for the finished product. Rocket Racing Wheels are precision crafted from A356 aluminum, purpose built to deliver big style and performance, designed and tested to meet or exceed U.S. D.O.T. requirements and SAE standards.
The History. In 1978, David Coker joined the family business that has roots in the wheel and tire industry tracing back generations. David is the youngest son of Harold Coker, car collector and founder of well known vintage tire company, Coker Tire.
David grew up in and around the old car hobby. His passion for muscle cars, hot rods and vintage race cars was clearly genetically implanted. David’s passion is clearly the driving force behind all of his automotive aftermarket businesses. After spending 25 years helping to grow the family business, David left the family business in 2003 to help launch his own 4 wheeled business enterprises. His first company, Newstalgia Wheel had a mission statement that was clear and to the point, “to assemble and sell the finest collection of custom wheels for street rods and muscle cars on the planet!”
August 2008, David announced his most recent venture, Rocket Performance Machine, Inc. (RPM) and the launch of its’ Rocket Racing Wheels line. If the name Rocket Racing Wheels sounds familiar, that’s because the brand gained popularity in the mid-60s, then faded from public view during the ‘90s.
“Sometimes opportunities are not always so obvious, and can present themselves as daily challenges,” says Mr. Coker. “After dealing day-to-day with my customers waiting anxiously to receive their custom-built wheels; I decided that I needed to design and manufacture a line of vintage style wheels that fit right, reasonably priced with no waiting period. Rocket Racing Wheels was my solution”.
Rocket Performance Machine, Inc. is the parent company of Rocket Racing Wheels, which builds a complete line of high-performance, nostalgia-inspired custom wheels for muscle cars, hot rods, street rods and g-machines. To better serve the market, RPM offers a variety of backspacing and offsets to fit more specific muscle car, street rod and hot rod applications.
