Nitro Funny Car Association Forges Ahead

If you can get past the horrific news regarding the economy that seems to be coming faster and harder each day, there are some gems of goodness showing up in the racing world. The Nitro Funny Car Association is one. The organization of nitro-burning, sweet old floppers has a full season of action planned at bargain basement prices.

If you are out west and you don’t take advantage of a cheap ticket and a face full of nitro, you’re missing out big time. See the NFCA web site here.

Here’s the positive release from the NFCA:

When the TIMES get Tough the NFCA Gets Going
(Tucson, AZ) January 27, 2009:  As news from the motorsports community continues to be bleak, reports from the Nitro Funny Car Association are quite the opposite. Newly elected president Jim Broome had this to say after a member meeting in mid January ; “Many members of the association are successful business owners that know during down economic times is when you find your strategic advantage and exploit that advantage 100%. The Nitro Funny Car Association is now 40 members strong, we have an exciting and aggressive marketing plan to connect with motorsports enthusiasts and most importantly we have a renewed unity with focus on achieving our goals.”
According to the new officers of the NFCA, President Jim Broome, Vice President Chris Bennett, and Treasurer Gary Turner, the group’s strategic advantage is being able to provide an incredible nitro show with full fields of nitro burning Funny Cars that represent the hey day of American made horsepower running 240 mph down the full quarter mile drag strip. With more than 14 tentative events at race tracks that can keep ticket prices at or below $20.00, the NFCA is leading the way in affordable family fun. In addition to the show on track the NFCA plans to launch the Nitro Nation mobile fan experience to connect drivers and teams with motorsports enthusiasts in a genuine and personal manner. The mobile fan experience will be packed with merchandise, interactive opportunities, a Victory Garden, full display car, and more. Membership is free for children and an annual cost of $25.00 for adults. With annual membership Nitro Nation members may take full advantage of contests, free merchandise, discounts, and freebies from NFCA marketing partners.
The nitro season opened January 17 and 18 at tracks around the country hosting test and tune events. Although a pro racer could not be found at Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s opening January 17th ,Nitro Funny Car Association members took advantage of the track time to tune up their nitro machines for the first race scheduled March 6 – 8, 2009 in Bakersfield, CA.
