Calling all metro-sexuals! You soon may have a new weekend activity to participate in if your beloved VW brand makes a move into NASCAR, as the company is reportedly considering. VW is actually consulting with Roger Penske on the idea. It’ll be great to see the popped collar, pastel shirt wearing crowd mingling with the masses in NASCAR-ville. There’s no way that could end badly.
Motor Trend broke the story and claims that the company is serious about this and will begin talks in earnest after the 2010 season ends. VW is working on a mid-size sedan to introduce in North America and that car would be the model for the headlight decals on the COT which would actually race.
Penske’s team currently runs Fiats Dodges and Kurt Busch is sitting in the 4th position in points. His other two drivers are back markers sitting at 26th and 27th right now.
Hell, the addition of Toyota has done so much for the series, this will only help too, right? Maybe they’ll allow VW to run a diesel engine, just for the fun of it.
Smokey would not approve.
