Well Freiburger and Finnegan departed the semi-comfy confines of So-Cal yesterday and have been hauling north toward their ultimate destination of Alaska, where the plan to ice race the 1968 Ford Ranchero they built in about a week. If this sounds like a bad idea, that’s because it is. Anyway you can follow along with them live as they have a GPS tracker pinging their location every few seconds.
As we write this at just after 8:00 AM on the east coast, the boys are making tracks through snowy Utah. They seems happy to have encountered snow. The novelty of that is going to wear off pretty quick as they’ll be staring at the white death for the next few days on their way up north.
Hit the link below to follow their progress and hit the second one to see the Hot Rod facebook to follow their adventure through the many updates they are posting every day. Things won’t get really weird on this deal until they make it to the Yukon Territory. That may as well be outer space.

It’s a pretty weak snow storm. I’ve wanted to make the drive to Alaska, wish them luck!
Man, this is crazy and awesome! I can’t wait to see the video after they’re done!
I bet the boys will be suprised that fresh cragars can rust after being exposed to road salt for only a week…..
I have to say….they must have VERY understanding wives to let them thrash build a car and leave for a 3600 mile roadtrip two weeks before Christmas!!
Just checked the tracker and they’re keeping it just under 80!!
Gonna make up lost time on the road!
Get’er done boys!!
DF and Finnegan are making Hot Rod history. There have been cool projects over the years but the documentation and execution of this project places it right alongside famous Ray Brock HRM projects like El Caballero
This will be a great 4th “Video Story” when they’re done.
For anyone who missed the others, they are worth watching!! I’m only dissapointed in the amount of views they’ve gotten v.s. the amount of work that went into them….

I see on the FB updates they’ve broken the passenger side glass. If they can cobble something together & carry on to Billings, MT there is a great glass guy there!
