Paving For Pizza: Domino’s Is Pitching In To Patch Up Roads…To Save Your Pizza, Of Course!

Domino’s Pizza…a love-hate relationship if I’ve ever had one. I loved working at the one in Manitou Springs, Colorado. I hated driving fifteen miles round-trip…or, at least, paying for the fuel for that drive. I loved that I had bosses who looked the other way when I made a “mistake” pizza to take home so I had food for a couple of days back in my starving student timeline. I hated going door-to-door in the August heat handing flyers to retirees. I loved getting some of the most insane and honestly, too hot for BangShift requests from the local colleges for free pizza. I hated that I was too young to deliver pizzas, so I had to hear second-hand stories from other drivers.

Domino’s is a gateway employer. It’s a fantastic first step. The company wants you to work, and rewards good workers along the way. And since 2009, after hitting a low value point and taking a solid assessment at how the company’s food was perceived by the public, Domino’s has been working hard at self-improvement, which over the last decade has paid off nicely. And it appears that they are continuing to work at improvements, but their current mark on society just might be more appreciated than a pizza at your door.

Called “Paving for Pizza”, the aim is to assist communities in filling in potholes that, if struck by a random pizza delivery driver carrying your large Cali Chicken Bacon Ranch and some sodas, could result in a pizza that looks like it got ran over by rush hour traffic and a time-bomb of a two-liter of soda that without fail, your kid will open and spray your kitchen with. Ok, jokes aside, the deal is that customers can nominate their community to be considered for pizza-backed road repairs. Domino’s is already showing off repairs that took place in Burbank, California, Bartonville, Texas and Milford, Delaware and is ready to put in more work where bad roads threaten hot pizzas.

Dammit, now I’m hungry….
