Pay Up Sucka: NASCAR Charges Crew Chief Big For Low Car

We have to laugh at this stuff. Every time we hear about a NASCAR team failing a post-race inspection we wait for the punchline that is the fine. It’s not a joke because the amount is so small. In fact, it’s just the opposite.

The latest crew chief to be hammered by NASCAR is Kevin Manion of Martin Truex Jr.’s team. His car was found to be too low at the post-race inspection so he was put on probation and fined $50,000. Fifty freaking thousand dollars, more money than the fields of the first five NASCAR races of all time we’d bet.

Adding insult to injuey, Manion already had to pay a $25,000 dinger earlier this year. We imagine that he’s paid well.
