Potential Drag Strip Runs Into Noise Concern From Townsfolk

The people of Social Circle, Georgia, are quite concerned with the proposed eighth-mile drag strip that a local man wants to build in their town. The resident, who owns another race track, is trying to get the zoning changed on the tract of land where the race track would sit.

Not suprisingly noise tops the list of potential concerns. The people also fear the types of people who’d be showing up at the track, as they are concerned that the track would attract drugs and “heavy drinking” in the area. It sounds like if we lived in Social Circle we’d already be in the heavy drinking camp.

A critical town meeting is scheduled for December 15. The man who wants to build the track will be able to speak and share his ideas on how to control the noise and the other concerns the townspeople have.

As usual, we’re hoping he’s allowed to build the track. Click here to read the story on the site of the local newspaper.
