PRI 2011: Taj MaHaul – A Look Inside A Massive Featherlite Race Trailer

The humble race trailer has certainly evolved over the years. From what were basically glorified car dollies in the 1950s and 1960 to ramp trucks both open and enclosed in the late 1960s all the way to the massive stackers of today they do far more than just move cars now. Trailer serve as mobile parts warehouses, meeting rooms, data analysis centers, team lounges, and oh yeah, they still move cars as well.

There were many trailers set up at PRI this year on display, but this mondo mothership of a unit from Featherlite caught our attention and damn near demanded that we take a tour and share the photos with you. What you will not see in these photos is the dedicated root top viewing area this particular unit has, complete with safety hand rails.

When you see the photos of the lounge area, know that those couches are not naugahyde or vinyl. Those babies are real deal leather and had the “new couch smell” to prove it. The stereo and entertainment center which is neatly concealed behind a tinted glass panel has more electronic horsepower than all but a select few units we’ve ever seen in people’s homes, let alone trailers!

Scroll down to check this monster out. Also know that once a race team gets their mitts on a trailer like this, every cubic inch is filled to the gills with stuff.
