Don Garlits has been racing his V8 Drag Pack Challenger for a couple of seasons now and apparently it was getting a little long in the tooth. We only say that because the fine folks at Mopar were proudly displaying Garlits’ new Drag Pack and this one has the bad ass and 100% controversial V10 engine. Remember that 800hp “drag race” V10 that Mopar unveiled at SEMA? We’re wondering if that’s what’s sitting between the fenders for the Garlits-mobile.
Don was at the show signing autographs and being his cool self for the show. He had along with him the restored version of his infamous “accident car” that blew apart on the starting line at Lions Drag Strip, sawing his foot in half. That car is a near perfect recreation, including the “Garlits-drive” planetary transmission which failed, causing the horrifying scene at “the beach”. We also spied Big Daddy’s long time right hand man, TC Lemons at the show and holding court in a couple of different booths. That’s a guy with epic stories flowing from his pores.
The graphics package on the car was designed by Joe Adams at Adams Design. You can visit his website by clicking here.
Scroll down to take a quickie photo tour of this new V10 Drag Pack Challenger that Garlits will be racing. It seems like he got tired of being chased at the drags, and now he wants to be the one chasing!
The bubble-wrap on the roll-cage is a very nice touch.
This presentation looks like a design that was done by Joe Adams. Great work. I am a long-time fan of Big Daddy and always will be
