The more I dive into my 1989 Mustang LX, the more I understand why people adore them. Light, simple, very well understood, the Fox Mustang has fans for a reason. Part of what made them so loved is the ability to plug-and-play just about any powerplant under the hood. We’ve seen Ford engines ranging from sociopathic little turbo-fours to the brute 460 jammed in there. We’ve seen all manner of Chevrolet engines, including legions of LS-swapped Foxes. There are a couple of Fox body swaps that utilize 3G Hemi engines, and there have to be a few running the old-school variety as well, and the Toyota 2JZ has been used for that import kick. I could even find you one powered by a Cummins 6BT, if diesel is your thing…you weirdo.
This relatively innocent green four-eye hatch is actually one of BangShift’s oldest project postings, with it’s origins dating back to 2008. The plan then was to cram 500 cubic inches of wreath-and-crest torque monster between the shock towers…that’s right, this Mustang’s build plan involved Cadillac V8 power to motivate it along. Over the years little updates came and went, with the last few happening right about four years ago when the transmission crossmember was being worked on. That is, until a couple of days ago, when “Stiney” started going through and fixing photo links in the thread. Kind of makes you wonder what’s going on in that barn in Ohio, doesn’t it?

CaddyStang – the gender-bender of cars. You’re so brave!
