If you’ve hung around BangShift for any amount of time, you’ll recognize the name Charles Wickam. He’s one of our photo contributors, he’s a great friend, and if the night air is especially cool, he becomes a warm and cuddly teddy bear. When he’s not dressed from head to toe in Day-Glo Yellow while shooting on a strip, you can find him hanging around his haunt in Texas, with his faithful pup Toby keeping him company…or, at least, begging for bacon. Wickam has had some interesting luck when it comes to Chevrolet trucks…last year he nearly bought the farm after catching something large and heavy through the windshield of his S-10 on the way to work one morning, and this year he’s decided to try to put together the largest model kit you could possibly find.
Stuffed into the back of that Chevy C/K is most of what makes up a 1955 Chevrolet truck. Note, we did say “most”…you will notice that no frame is present, and that there is also some missing metal from the body itself, since he’s close to the Gulf shores. The premise right now is to use a short wheelbase Chevrolet S-10 frame as a starting point, and to assemble the truck around it, using a small-block Chevy for motivation. The “Electric Pickle” (dude, you really have to explain that name to me sometime) is in it’s early stages right now, so don’t mind the S-10 body panels being cut up for patch pieces, or the discarded wheelbarrow tub that will be turned into an impromptu console and trans tunnel. The creativity is strong with this one, so check out the early posts and be sure to keep watching!
Start assembly my ass!
I’ve got better things to do with my time like drinking the fine malt whisky I’d get with the money a junkyard gave me for these pieces of Chevy crap…
^^^^^^ the butt hurt is strong with this one
Awesome Build!
I don’t know Geordie. I always pictured you with a jar of corn mash!!!
I’ve started with worse looking and less complete cars. I’m not a Chevy guy but I’d like to see the finished product.
Such a cool build
I have a 59′ Apache on a 91′ C1500 frame. Fits much better than the S10. The S10 is very narrow for this body.
