Zephyr Chop Part 1: How To CHOP & WELD A- PILLARS On A 1939 Lincoln ZEPHYR Coupe Conversion From 4 Door

Karl from Make It Kustom is working on his awesome Lincoln Zephyr project again and we love it. We’ve shared several videos on metal shaping that have to do with this project, but in this one it is time to “start” the chop. I use the quotes, because the entire roof was cut off of this thing early on in the process. Now the A-Pillars are going to be cut for the final chop height, and worked to fit with the new shape of the body.

I say new shape not because he’s changing the iconic shape of the Zephyr, but because as you lower the top the angle of the pillars must change. This is because the width of the roof, and shape of the body, aren’t the same so you have to find a middle ground that keeps the flow and the shape looking like it should. Check out the video and let us know what you think. I love this project and can’t wait to see it all done.
