It was replacing sub rails, cutting out rusty floors, and then welding in new ones in the last few videos. The “DeLorean” roadster is under the knife and it’s going to be an awesome project. This week’s video is all about patch panels. There is plenty of rust to deal with on this project, but it will get done.
Iron Trap has got all kinds of great projects, but this ’32 Ford Roadster is going to be something. It’s weird to see them getting new parts for a car like this, but it is the right choice to make this car as “original” as possible. Check out the two videos below that show how this project is getting started and then follow along as we’ll bring you regular updates.
Video Description:
The DeLorean Roadster has some rust issues but surpassingly the outer portion of the body is fairly solid. Both quarter panels and cowl sides have the typical ford rust, but overall there is not a ton of patch panels needed on the the out side. Matt is working on the passenger side of today’s video, which is the side that needs less work. The cowl side has a few small pin holes but does not need to be replaced, so Matt uses some silicone bronze to attach it to the new subrails at the door opening. The front portion of the quarter panel needs a patch, but not the entire thing. Matt works on cutting out the damaged area and cutting the patch panel to match. Once the quarter is done he can round off the repairs with a small section in the wheel well. Very soon the Delorean roadster is going to be a super solid body!!
