Is This Old Honda Scooter Worth Customizing? The RedDirt Rodz Crew Thinks So. Check Out What They Are Doing To It.

Sometimes I think that Jefferson has got a screw loose when he comes up with projects or video ideas, and that’s because he marches to the beat of a different drummer. I have to tell you, this one here is a weird project to me but I’m interested to see how it all turns out. The first two videos are below, so let us know what you think.

Video Description:

The Honda Helix was introduced in 1986, and was the pinnacle of small-frame motorbiking. I was wanted one of these when I was a kid SOOO BAD, but I had to settle for my sister’s hand-me down Honda Spree 50cc birth-controlmobile. I bought this early last year with plans to strip it into a “naked” scooter, and we finally are getting after it. In this video, we strip the body work and controls, mod the handlebars and talk about our plans. Some of the plans have already changed a bit, but you’ll have to wait till the next episode to find out what! For now, check out our Honda Helix strip down.

In this installment of the Helix build, Ben and Brock spend some time with some cleaners and brushes, getting the frame and engine cleaned up, wiring and suspension removed and prepped. We also repacked the fork bearings. We take a rear fender from a wrecked Harley Road King and graft it onto the Helix, now officially dubbed “The Harlix”. We chop the rear fender, fab the mounts and bolt it on. We also make custom mounts for a set of Harley running boards, which along with the Harley seat make the Helix so comfortable to sit on. The rear fender and running boards really changes the whole look of the Helix, and we really dig it. Do you like it? Do you hate it? Let us know in the comments!
