When I was fourteen, my stepdad drug home a 1978 Dodge 3/4 ton that had been the unfortunate victim of a winter accident. The truck was very low mile, and only needed a new radiator core support, hood, grille and driver’s fender to get right. I got to drive that truck on public roads, one of the first vehicles I really cruised around in with adult supervision (and approval) and I loved the fact that for a very capable work truck, that the big extended-cab Dodge actually felt very buttoned-down and tight. Smooth, too, though the 318 that truck had wasn’t going to win any power award anytime soon.
So when I saw this 1977 Dodge dually on eBay, the exact same color combinations and all, my jaw hit the floor and flooded a lot of good memories into my head. These Dodges weren’t trying to be the middleman between work and comfort, but they did a good job of bridging the gap between the two ideas. The only things I ever wanted for the truck from back when was a big-block and for it to be a dually. This one has both, with the engine none other than the workhorse version of the 440ci V8 under the hood, backed to a 727 automatic. This truck is a one-owner deal, and said owner took excellent care of it, because other than some minor paint issues on the hood this truck is a time capsule. The interior is gorgeous and the bed, which only held a camper up until recently, looks flawless.
This Adventurer is in Oregon, and watching the bidding on this truck is going to be interesting, because finding good 1970’s trucks is already a hassle, but finding them this nice is starting to become impossible. Scroll to the bottom to see a walk around video of the truck as well!

Here in Michigan we rarely see old trucks that look this nice . Thanks for sharing . Could use a little work on the bottoms of the doors and rockers etc .
Funny how nostalgia is, I look at this and see ugly. That being said, I owned a two tone blue 78 3/4 ton 454 Chevy Camper Special so fire away!
I give props for Dodge and Ford for building extended cab pickups back then, how come Chevy drop the ball on this one?
Too bad its on the wrong coast!
