When Kevin from Junkyard Digs said that he was serious about bringing the 1968 Pontiac LeMans he dragged out of it’s long-term resting spot, I was excited for him. When he said that he was pretty sure that the car had been underwater…well, to be honest, I questioned his sanity. A 1968 Pontiac isn’t like a late-model flood car, of course…there’s no computers to fry and the interior can be swapped out easily enough. But there is still the matter of the rest of the electrical system, and as far as the 350 Pontiac motor and it’s transmission go…well, would you be surprised if he flushed out a fish?
It’d be easy to bust his balls and say that he’s too far over his head, that the car is beyond saving, yada yada yada. Truth be told, it takes guts to take on a project that’s been down this long and any car on the way to being back on the road instead of rotting away in a yard is always a good project to work on. Besides, from what we know about his goings-on in the background, he could probably use a bit of experience working on a muscle-era Pontiac…he’ll need the practice if he gets his way soon! Is that a hint? Yes it is…
I’m surprised he’s outing the time into this. Tons of work.
