Question Of The Day: What Do You Guys Think Of This DeSoto-Meets-Crown Victoria Crossup?

Question Of The Day: What Do You Guys Think Of This DeSoto-Meets-Crown Victoria Crossup?

You, the BangShift readers, have been plenty vocal about such automotive mashups as EasyRods’ “Belaro” 1957 Chevy meets 4th Gen Camaro or the Thunderbirds that are meant to look like classic Fords and Mercury vehicles. You love them about as much as you love anesthesia-free dental work, and especially with the bought conversion kits, it is easy to see why: instead of actually saving, building and experiencing an old car, instead you have late-model junk posing as a new car. Got it.

But what do you think of a combination based on a car so far out there that the only way this came together had to be because of craftsmanship? Take this hybrid: a late-model Ford Panther platform car, a bit of 1957 DeSoto, some 1958 Lincoln, and a hint of 1957 Buick. Mix together, blend with vanilla and turquoise, and park in public and wait for the reactions. The initial reaction is probably going to be unanimous across the board: “WTF?!” But what I keep returning to is why blend those cars when it would’ve been easier to find a derelict body and just plop it onto the Panther chassis? It’s not like you see late 1950s DeSotos, Lincolns or Buicks every day just laying around. Maybe the guy had parts and pieces and just made the most out of a Town Car. I’m not sure just where I stand on this…what say you?

I think that the sad bastard who built this monstrosity should have his hands and eyes forcibly removed so he can never ever build anything quite as horrible again – that’s what I think!

Hey, this guy lives somewhere in my area, seen it around at a few shows. It’s pretty horrid. The owner is also big into ’70s custom vans.

Well…the guys far more imaginative and creative than anyone posting comments on this blog, and…oh…never mind…

Bullhockey. It doesn’t take imagination or creativity to build an abortion. How about you post what YOU built?

  4. Tedly

It’s a well done abomination, but it’s still an abomination. I have yet to see a mashup car that looks good.

a pretty looking pile of shit is still a pile of shit. I’d rather have my rusty junk in the garage than anything like this.
