Watch Australian Legend John Zappia Make The Quickest Blown Doorslammer Quarter Mile Run Of All Time! 5.42

(Video credit: SpeedVideo.com) – Well just when you thought it was safe to go outside, John Zappia drops the quickest blown door slammer quarter mile run of all time on us. No, he did not do it in his native Australia but rather at the PDRA Brian Olson Memorial World Finals at Virginia Motorsports Park in Dinwiddie, VA. As the race was kicked back a day because of weather, there was some time on Sunday to honor Zappia’s request to make a quarter mile pull at the normally all eighth mile PDRA affair. Zap and the guys from Noonan Race Engineering combined to drop the boom on the existing blown quarter mile record by about five hundredths, recording an astounding 5.42/265mph clocking.

What’s cool to us about this deal is that the guys clearly set out to do it. They were not there to make a quarter mile checkout pass or just to mess around. Nope, they were there to put the screws to the thing and really let it fly and boy body did they! The car was in the 3.50s to the eighth mile which is pretty flipping ridiculous and it was in that zone multiple times over the course of the weekend so all in all it was an amazingly successful outing for both Zappia and Noonan together.

In case you are playing along at home and are wondering what the quickest door slammer pass of all time is, that number belongs to Jose Gonzales in a turbocharged Corvette that went 5.400 earlier this year. Yep, freaking insane.

and only had 20 passes on it, also John had to get used to left hand drive as well as they pulled the auto and put a clutch in it with 3 speed, imagine what these guys will do with a lot more seat time
