Racing Junk Find: A 1974 Corvette With Some Dubious Claims Behind It

When we run across an ad for a “1500hp” Corvette that was originally equipped with a 427/435hp engine…in 1974 we need to share it. There is clearly a photo showing a 427ci/435hp identification plate glued to the center console, so perhaps the seller has the most rare Corvette ever made. Hell, perhaps an engine was sitting in the corner of the Corvette factory for years and line employees decided to just bolt it into a 1974 model just for kicks. Or not.

The ‘Vette is now packing a (claimed) 502ci big block Chevy that makes “1500hp” with a giant pulley equipped blower and nitrous system. The seller claims that the roll barr delete Vette runs the quarter in an amazingly specific 8.09 seconds and is capable of more than 200mph.

The best news is that the suspension has been modified for “added ground clearance and hook up”. The engine “puts out 1200 hp and another 250 per carb (dual nitrous systems)”. By our math, this car with no apparent chassis modifications and a factory independent rear suspension is making nearly 2,000hp.

Do you think the guy really believes this? Maybe the better question is, do you think someone else will?
