There are lots of Pontiac bodied drag race cars prowling strips across America, but few of them have actual Pontiac power. Nope, most of them are just a Pontiac body holding a Chevy motor. Not this one though. Packing a 1,000hp specialty Pontiac engine, this Firebird is just about one of a kind.
The car spent it’s early life running NHRA index classes with a Pontiac engine, but the original owner’s son took the beast, had the bodied restored and painted back to a factory look. We dig the hell out of this car because it is a way fast Pontiac with a Pontiac based engine.
That motor is really something. The Kauffman Racing Equipment 540ci Pontiac engine features KRE raised port heads, a Wenzler custom tunnel ram intake, twin 1050 Holley Dominator carbs, and a raft of other heavy duty racing parts. The car currently sports a chassis certed to 8.50 and some bars would be needed to reach the 7.50 cert.
If you are a Pontiac performance fanatic, this is the bad ass car for you!
